interest in hypnosis for 20 years however did not start

her wedding reception, this rekindled my interest in

What is stage
hypnosis?
Well stage
hypnosis is a extreme focus of concentration and imagination
but is very relaxing. When people are in a hypnotic state or
trance a lot of people think the volunteer will be like a
zombie, this is simply not true people can laugh, cry and
even talk while under hypnosis. You can take people down in
to a state where they are in a sleep walking type state but
this is not required on a stage hypnosis show.
Is it dangerous
at all?
In short nope,
the government home office reviewed the 1952 hypnotism act
and concluded there are no more dangers in stage hypnosis
then what they are in most other activities, Its also worth
pointing out there are no known cases of hypnosis proven to
hurt anyone mentally.
Can anyone train
to be a stage hypnotist?
Well anyone can
learn how to do it in theory, but it is an art just because
you learn how it works it does not mean you will succeed in
been a stage hypnotist.
Where do you
learn to become a performing hypnotist?
They are lots of
home study courses on becoming a stage hypnotist, my opinion
is steer clear of these they are a waste of money and not
worth the DVD or paper they are written on, the best advice
I can give you is approach a working stage hypnotist some
will agree to train you others wont. I would also keep away
people who sell cheap training aids on eBay or off websites
they also tend to be a waste of money.
I read that you
don't make people take there clothes off is that true and
why?
If the only way I
could make an audience laugh is by degrading people by
making them strip then I would quit right now! They are
hypnotists who do this sort of thing but I don't here is one
of the reasons why. Would you think it funny if I had a
volunteer and unknown to me he had a stoma or colostomy bag
and I made him take his shirt off? No you would not and
neither would the volunteer as it would be degrading and
embarrassing for him.
Do you do dirty
shows?
I do adult shows
when I have been asked to do them and also the type of venue
and people attending the venue warrant this type of show
however as stated no one is asked to remove any clothing I
call it a "rude but not crude show". My main customer base
likes clean non offensive shows.
Are there any
rules as a stage hypnotist you need to follow?
Yes, the 1952
hypnotism act and the 1994 review of the hypnotism act also
I am a member of the Federation of Ethical Stage Hypnotists
and I abide by a very strict code of conduct.
What's the most
annoying thing you find when doing shows?
Well in TV series
Little Britain one of the sketches involves in Matt Lucas
playing a part of a stage hypnotist Kenny Craig whose lines
are "look into the eyes the eyes not around the eyes" well
people at shows assume you not heard of him before and come
up to me shouting these words 3 or 4 times a week, you just
got to smile and say good one mate never heard of that
before.
